Even though our skins are different shades
We pump the same color blood
Even though our shapes are different sizes
We pump the same color blood
Even though our brains think different thoughts
We pump the same color blood
Even though our love shows in different ways
We pump the same color blood
While we cannot control our EVEN THOUGHS…
We can control the way our blood flows
Through our hearts
We can choose to color our hearts black as night
Forcing blood to bleed outright
We can choose to color our hearts a deep, deep red
Forcing blood to bleed from others instead
We can choose to color our hearts with brilliance
(Rainbows,
Puzzle Pieces,
Unicorns,
Glitter)
Forcing blood to recirculate acceptance
My desire to love people, especially parts rarely seen
Means I choose to color mine in every shade, even those in between
(Except for the nastiest shade of green)
I look deep to see yellows shining through their souls
Even when they feel less than whole
By looking deep I share the orange of their successes
Even when they feel lessened
I akin their strength to the bluest of sky
Which prevails above when gray clouds fly
I try to keep my thoughts white as driven snow
And foster a sense of purple in every friend and foe
My recirculating heart forces love to truly play its parts
