There's a fire in my belly, one I can't deny

growing at will

a will stronger than mine

a consummated marriage planted seeds

one seed prospered

implanting itself snug in my womb

nestled, nourished, nuances

embryotic overture; orchestrated growth

substantial concealed lyrics

seeped into my bloodstream

each time I breathed a little deeper

each additional deep breath

settled my tummy

oxygenating the evolution

firing up the lantern

🔥

Months pass

bloating, kicking, pressure

physical pregnancy preconceived-

psyche's repositioning

not mind manipulation

a higher calling defined

when music hummed became my hymns

praising sacred space

nourishing embryonic fluid

cleasing spirit of a woman

divine timing, between moon phases

tidal dance; spring and neap

when the lantern flickers

🔥

Arrival, the day arrives

one day late in September

contractions contrasting conceptions

laboring for the better part of twelve hours

three grey honking geese fly by

bridging my heart chakra

green for fertility

connecting root, sacral, solar plexus

to throat, third eye, crown

crown, her head crowned

emerging from womb and fire

crown chakra open

steadied her on her feet-

like a mare with her foal

a lantern flares, widening my eyes

🔥

I know her, recognize her

she is me, the coveted child

the one I never cradled

a lost little girl drowning in tidal waves

resurfacing, her head above water

revitalizing my spirit

from seeds planted long ago

an overture, now my opera

belts out the notes I've known all along

singing a solo

a new version of a song once forgotten

infancy to infinity

holding her hand tight now

rebirthing connection

the lantern works its brilliance

🔥

There's a fire in my belly, I guess I've known it all along

the lantern does not taper
