an inner monologue

Black ink flows through my veins and onto the paper

Is this really all you see when you read me?

I am red as the blood that comforts my heart

And blue as the tears that cover my eyes every time you see me as other

I am green with envy -

That comes from my mother

Over porcelain skin

As you go for a swim

Only to leave me in the shade again

I am orange like the flame that burns when you hurt me

Yellow like the fading street lights as you desert me

On the road to discovery that only I can take

Painted purple with wisdom from my past

Winding into a future that only I can shape

What will I make?

Black ink flows through my veins and onto the paper

Tell me what you see when you read me
