RAVAGED

 And then satiated

()  ()  ()  ()  ()

Ravaged by a hunger,

We ate until sated,

And while more was offered,

The thought of more became –

Less appealing.

Ravaged by a hunger,

We felt the need to devour,

Relishing every morsal

Until the thought of more became –

Less appealing.

Ravaged by a hunger,

No stone unturned,

Cups overflowed,

Nothing left to want. All became –

Less appealing.

Ravaged by a hunger,

We devoured until sated,

Left nothing to want,

Left nothing for which to dream,

Nothing but the emptiness which became

Less reason to go on.

Ravaged by a hunger

Became our reason

To part.
