What is happiness
Technically it's chemicals in your brain
Dopamine, serotonin, endorphins
Release these in your brain and your bound to smile
But those are simply chemicals that make you happy
~
What is happiness
Is it receiving something you've always wanted
Giving someone something they've always wanted
Having all that you could ever want
But those are simply things that make you happy
~
What is happiness
Is it the embrace of a lover after a long day
The gentle smile of a parent saying their proud of you
Perhaps your boss giving you a promotion
But those are simply people that make you happy
~
What is happiness
Is it finally beating a game you've been playing for so long
Is it finishing a piece of writing that you're proud of
Is it restoring a car you've had for a long time
But those are simply hobbies that make you happy
~
What is happiness
It's honestly impossible to say
Maybe it’s the chemicals, things, people, or hobbies
Happiness is so many things to so many people
So just because your happiness doesn't match someone else's doesn't mean it isn't real
What is happiness? What is it to you?
Often I find myself struggling to define things like my own happiness. What makes me happy? What makes you happy? No two answers will always be the same. So just because your happiness doesn't match someone else's is no reason to fret. If you are given a reason to smile or be happy even once a day consider it a win. Find what makes you happy and embrace it no matter how mundane or strange. Also pure unadulterated rage that they changed bubble wrap so you can't enjoy it properly anymore.
