Rainbows Come From Rain

and I’m the greatness out my pain

By Najee ClarkPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Red like the sansuyu blossoms the Quesnelia Testudo flowers, the Crocosmia Emberglows, and my Korean, Brazilian, African-American Blood.

Lighthearted, weary and exhausted, fatigue overtakes me like a flood.

Washed up on my journey.

But if I look close enough I’ll be cautioned, yea, just like those orange signs, there’s work in progress here.

But be it the will of the product of my own fear.

Bumpy roads, pitfalls, the most dire distractions only come when I’m near.

But look how far I’ve come, scratched and reached for the surface.

Look at what I’ve done, coming from golden gates to a colder state, the rainy south Seattle’s not for the faint hearted or yellow.

But I’ve made it my home, evergreens and all.

Because rainbows come from rain, keeping and standing tall, weathering and watching life, like my Grandfather watching above us all.

Growing up in Seattle, the city near the sea the waves of blues and sunsets on the puget sound when I rest I catch the purple hues.

I’ll be a product of my environment, my own Picasso painting.

A Cali-Ore-seattle-ite.

Shining bright with my own light.

Because, rainbows come from rain, and I’m the greatness out my pain.
