Poem on Coming Out

I've been hidden quietly covered in cocoon

No movement

No sound

Waiting for spring to blossom

Ready to break free

I'm scared

Come on out, don't be shy

You're free

Set yourself free

Life in closet may seem uncomfortable

Maybe a squeeze

Why are you afraid?

You don’t have to be afraid

Secrets or lies we hide

Gay or straight

Whatever you are

God makes no mistakes

You are you

Freedom is here

Freedom is in you

Truth is freedom

You’ve grown so long enough

Time to break free

Crack!

It’s opening!

Crack!

Keep going!

Crack! Crack!

You’re doing it!

Crack!

It’s happening! You’re free!

Flap lightly with your beautiful colorful wings

Dance around with bloomy flowers and silent air

Time to fly away

Butterfly fly away
