sometimes the rain drops

into the ground

splashing as it makes a sound

into nothing but dirt and worms

your skin, it moves,

your body squirms

restless and tired

yet driven and wired

you type as furiously as the storm outside

hoping to quell your inner thunder clouds

your thoughts play games where they run and hide

you wish you knew what they were about

but alas they wash away down the gutter

you've been there more times than you can count

heart stays aflutter

and you drown yourself out

sink or swim, you won't know until you try

hoping to fly instead of die
