I'll miss your smile in the morning, And your shadow presence behind me always. The photographic evidence on the walls, Random memories of you all around me, Makes me miss you being near. A permanent hole in my heart, Now filled only with a plethora of memories. Watching you slip away being the worst of all. But your strong self went through it without any fear. Only smiles as you received our reassurance, As if you knew it was your time to go, Resting your head on my foot one last time, You were ok, and you made that clear. I hope you're smiling down at us as we mourn, And running free without any pain. Your once loud footsteps that clicked on the floor, Now leave a trail of quiet pawprints I can no longer hear.
