Quiet After Breaking

Quiet before the storm maybe ?

Quiet After Breaking

After the breaking comes a strange stillness,

not peace, not relief, something in between,

a pause where everything hesitates,

uncertain whether to rise or fall again.

Fragments settle without pattern or plan,

not whole, never returning to what was,

just arranged enough to stand upright,

without collapsing under their own weight.

Voice feels distant, almost unfamiliar,

words carrying more than they once did,

each one chosen with careful restraint,

as though it might fracture under pressure.

Eyes begin to see with sharper truth,

less illusion, less need for comfort,

understanding arrives without softness,

clear and unwavering in its presence.

Silence becomes a place to remain,

not empty, not cruel, simply there,

holding space for breath to return,

without demand, without expectation.

Healing moves in quiet directions,

never announcing where it begins,

small shifts hidden in shadowed corners,

barely noticed until they take hold.

Strength grows without needing witness,

no proving, no declaring its worth,

just existing in a steady form,

ready when the moment requires it.

Nothing returns to what it once was,

that truth stands firm and unchanging,

yet something new rises from the remains,

and carries forward without apology.
