The barren queen hoards honey

in the hive ‘til drones drown,

laid-by nectar neglected,

turning rancid remembering

floral mansions— petals

pistils, and stamen invaded

by the incessant buzz

of busybodies collecting

pollen pointlessly,

and the barren queen

flaps her frigid wings

for attention,

freezing

the whole

damn world.
