Quarrelling Perceptions

Z of Generations

Absorbed by her every move and sound,

Blatant by my sealed eyes and stare.

Captivating, care-free and charming, she was,

Doubtful thoughts about myself appear.

Envy or jealousy? Desire or bitterness?

Fallacious judgements alter our confidence,

Gruelling generation desperate to be seen.

Haunted by our disrupted society’s norms,

Ignorant of the damage it is causing.

Justified by this addiction to our perfect selves,

Killing our children with these false beliefs.

Lamenting the days when we were more authentic,

Melancholy playing in our hearts, each at a different beat.

Neglecting our needs to feel visible and accepted,

Oppressed by our dependence and obsessions.

Pressure to fit the perfect image we’ve falsely created,

Quarrelling perceptions disrupt our soundness of mind.

Rueing the ways we treat ourselves and others,

Squalid world exposed online for everyone to see.

Truth altered to brainwash and control,

Unintelligible to how we let our kind become this way.

Vitriolic minds created by pain and anger,

War that is never ending as we move with falter.

Xouting our sanity for money, power, and fame,

Youth wasted and failed by the system’s game.

Z of generations going in for the kill with their last cries, their last will.
