the embers smolder
the flames crackle
the earth splits with a roar
the smoke darkens the sky
the crowd went mad with reverie
passion turned to revolution
the ashes hide their story
justice will be re-written
history makes them conquerors
to be burned at the stake
when the wind changes
light the fire anew
the winter storm rocks the phoenix to sleep
the world achieves a frozen and fragile peace
warriors wait with freezing breath
scarred and battered
never at rest
trapped in an icy undeath

Trapped in an icy undeath. That line really stood out to me! Loved your poem!
