“Puurfect Friend”

I remember the moment our eyes first met.

I noticed you instantly as I was led through the door.

You were so beautiful with your patches of black, white, and brown fur.

The purrfect friend to warm my lap when the weather was cold and it was time for a nap.

I sat the carrier right down in your cage and you walked right in with feline grace.

I was shocked for just a moment or two, then I wondered if maybe you knew too.

The years we spent together were filled with love and affection. When times were tough you offered your soft protection.

The void you left can’t be filled by another. Not the cold spot on my lap, nor our bond with each other.

I miss you more than you could ever know. I never wanted to have to let you go.

It’s been three months now since you crossed that bridge.

Your food bowl still sits on top of the fridge.

I stare at it from time to time. I just wish life would have given us more time.

I hope one day we will meet again; my furry, beautiful, purrfect friend.
