pushing daisies
light and dark in love and memory - challenge entry
Heaven opened up before the steeple.
Fragments of grace appear upon the lawn.
Shining in the hearts of all the people
Who felt the silence when your soul moved on.
Your face is still seen beside the mirror;
A picture from the day we made a vow.
Next to the words you whispered in my ear,
I wonder where they might be hiding now.
Daisies sit there, rotting on the table.
Overwatered with the tears of regret.
Would have done much more if I was able;
If I knew just how much time we had left.
Surviving each night in my empty bed
The images of us—swirling through my head.
