Purple Fringing

By Yaw SaahenePublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Monotonous day.

From mundane to mundane.

So used to the seesaw of emotions that this calm borders on calamity.

In this light, if I squint my eyes, I see the separated rays around me.

With kaleidoscopic clarity.

My focus begins to wander.

In excessive calm & daydreams.

Almost fully detached…

…& there it is.

A car passes by.

& off of that car’s last edge in passing, a purple fringe.

An impossible trailing skirt in ultraviolet.

So deep it seems to glow even in daylight.

Like the outer edge of the concentric spectrum, but now unchained & free to make itself known independently.

Without my own effort.

To remind me of what might still be.

& why I mustn’t fall asleep again.

The novel moments wait for me.

Just out of view.

Lighting the darkness of days.

On the coattails of the mundane.
