Purple Cow

Book Excerpt: Animals Galore

What would you do with a purple cow?

Would she just turn up one day and how?

Maybe walk right up and say "How do you do?"

Would she bat her eyelashes and offer to moo?

If a purple cow came from right down the lane

would you admire the purpleness

would you ask her name?

For I don't think purple cows belong in a zoo

as for autographs, I'll leave that to you

Would you ask her shoe size,

would she think it's so silly?

She may hang her head sideways

and say she is Milly

For things are so different

when a purple cow comes to town

and gives us excuses to follow her around

For wherever she goes, she brightens the day

When a purple cow smiles and comes out to play.
