Promised Forever

Timebound Paradox

Blow away the dust and open the box

Sifting through words printed with blue pen

Proof of love past, long calls, whispered talks

Shriveled petals scentless and lumpen

Why was I driven then to save love's proof?

Photos taken, never showing me

Pressing the shutter, denying the truth?

Promised forever now box of debris.

That me was unguarded, heart with no locks

She had faith, hope, trusted in you then

'Forever' was a timebound paradox

This box remembrance of another when.

Crumbling evidence of your love's disproof

Unneeded charms against what would be

No censure now needed, no reproof

Our past turned to ash, my present now free.
