A cage of our own.

I’m held captive by the thoughts of what used to be,

a not-so-distant memory.

Staring at a wall envisioning the time,

when I was yours and you were mine.

A time imperfect but still so dear,

oh how I still want you near.

But instead I sit reminiscing,

of your kiss, your touch, the way you listen.

Of the plans we made, the times we shared,

and how of my thoughts you are unaware.

But my pride won’t let me let you know,

so it’s time for me to let you go.
