Prickling

That known feeling

It starts with a warm to cold zipping on

your spine. A keen buzzing that holds your mind.

An anticipation that's never gone.

An excitement of the curious kind.

To feel every follicle of hair

standing up so straight along the body

from your legs to your head in charging air.

To be a connection that is shoddy.

The world fizzles about right before the

spark can be seen. Like watching your own brain

given form outside here in our strata.

Only a very slight tingle of pain.

And though our bodies might prepare to lock,

we are scarcely ready for the shock.
