welcome though transient, the prelude to summer

with newly grown blossoms, flowers spring forth

when the sun's glory starts to show its glimmer

*

as the birds and bees sing their songs and hummer

we give way to thoughts of our own value, worth

welcome though transient, the prelude to summer

*

with the easing off of the world's natural dimmer

and the chills of winter, dissolves in the warmth

when the sun's glory starts to show its glimmer

*

from the high and mighty to the lowly slummer

we embrace the bright, the mirth of the earth

welcome though transient, the prelude to summer

*

as the temperature increases, an underdog comer

the puffins squawk and call on May in the Firth

when the sun's glory starts to show its glimmer

*

dance the Maypole to the beat of the drummer

as we prepare our bodies and souls for rebirth

welcome though transient, the prelude to summer

when the sun's glory starts to show its glimmer

*

Thanks for reading!

Author's Notes: Going to admit that not really feeling the joys of spring and May right now, but had this in the chamber and needed to release it. This is for Mike's wonderful villanelle, or should I say Mayvillanelle prompt. More details can be found below.

Lovely villanelle! You may not feel it and understandably so but this simply sings of spring!
