Pray for Jamaica
God bless the innocent people

Pray for Jamaica
The skies have cried too long this week,
their tears have drowned the singing fields,
the rivers roared like restless drums,
and homes sank low beneath the sorrow.
Mountains shuddered, earth gave way,
the waves rose high and kissed the sky,
the wind tore through the sleeping towns,
and thunder spoke where angels cry.
The palm trees bowed in broken grace,
their roots held tight to shifting ground,
and voices carried through the rain,
for all the hearts not yet found.
The morning sun stayed veiled in grey,
too faint to warm the trembling shore,
and silence spread through every street,
where laughter lived but lives no more.
The children watched the water climb,
their toys now drifting out to sea,
while mothers prayed in quiet faith,
for strength, for love, for family.
Still through the grief, a heartbeat strong,
it echoes softly in the rain,
for every loss will one day fade,
and peace will find her place again.
A woman sings beside the sea,
her voice a light through darkened skies,
each note a prayer for calmer days,
for joy to lift where sadness lies.
The churches fill with trembling hands,
each candle burning through the storm,
each flame a symbol, pure and true,
of all that keeps the soul warm.
The flag still waves, though wet with tears,
its colours bright, its meaning clear,
that hope will rise through every fear,
and guide the weary home.
Jamaica stands, though battered sore,
her heart unbroken, proud, and sure,
for even when the tempests rage,
her spirit shines, her faith endures.
So pray for Jamaica, lift her name,
let love be stronger than the rain,
let healing flow through sea and flame,
and bring her peace again.
When morning breaks with golden hue,
and calm returns to sea and plain,
the island will begin anew,
and bloom with life again.
