Potion Poison

Loved and Lost

By Kayli MartinPublished 9 years ago • 1 min read

Sometimes,

“We hurt people that love us.

We love people that hurt us.”

Sometimes,

I can’t help losing;

Understanding translation.

I reminisce on days of loving you.

Your alluring lies

And assortment of liars.

It doesn’t mean I miss you,

Or even that I wrote this to diss you.

I lost God but,

God bless you.

Convinced I could fix

All the broken things mixed.

Your mind was a

Handcrafted infection

Still in admiration

And it diseased the nation.

The deepest darkest pool

I’d ever dare to step into.

Mischievous daunting swamp.

I believed you.

I needed you like

You didn’t need me.

Drown me on the daily,

Kill me please baby.

Your bestie can eat my thoughts,

And you can cannibal.

Impossible to resist,

To take less.

Rain and cries.

You tease my brain

And satisfy hunger pains.

I forgave you,

And I was left unforgiven.

“I can’t right my wrongs,

Unless I write them down for real.”

Whatever is yours,

Is mine,

Is ours.

That’s the thing that gets me,

What is love really?

If it isn’t for pleasure.

If it cannot be held by a promise,

Time, or even a deadline.

Pain and joy are the same in the game.

Thick and thin,

And nothing in between.

Sweet nothings,

Are really nothings.

Even when chicken scratch scribbled

On parchment paper.

Even as a drawing.

You said,

“You only take pictures,

To forget.”

Maybe it’s not best

For people like me

To be with people like you.

So this is me,

Sincerely forgetting you,

In the list of things I have loved and lost.
