Postal Seduction
villanelle-shaped
They all left with the violent spun
Hermes helped them carry the flambeau
Pass this on to the next generation
*
All invites and chairs removed, no fun
Nothing to see for the spectators of this show
They all left with the violent spun
*
I look out the window and see who won
Red ribbons dance in slow motion around the château
Pass this on to the next generation
*
The bells announce ingloriously, men shun
They need to take care of their portmanteaux
They all left with the violent spun
*
They don’t deserve veneration
They always have something in tow
Pass this on to the next generation
*
Everything packed in boxes and sent for reparation
No need to affix stamps or wear a chapeau
They all left with the violent spun
Pass this on to the next generation
*
Author's Note: I tried to publish my villanelles, this one and the following two, also in French because I like the way they sound more in that language. Apparently, the Vocal submission system rejects "other language" than English, even though my poems are bilingual. Once again, Vocal, you are missing something rare. Your loss.
