Post-Traumatic, Stress "In Order"

A Recurrent Dream by West Parker, In Villanelle Form

These fears of mine aren't so divine

(a desperate dispute of ownership)

Will I climb the great decline?

//

You present your teeth, I show refine

(or a bellied, tart, and dangerous quip)

These fears of mine aren't so divine

//

Before I scream I stay in line

(Despite your grossly bloated ego-trip)

Will I climb the great decline?

//

Bring the others, I do not mind

(They scoff our family relationship)

This fear of mine is so divine

//

I shriek and shout, I lose my spine

(They fear me now, you get your poise and grip)

I will not climb the great decline

//

I am the monster, I am unkind

(You are the human, it was only a nip)

This fear of mine is not so divine

Will I climb the great decline?
