Polaris

My North Star

By Amelia SchwartzPublished 12 months ago • 1 min read

I feel polar opposite of everyone else

I’m a statue on a pillar, watching the world pass by

One day I thought to myself…why are we here?

This question makes me listless

No less, growing relentless

I feel stone cold

This feeling of dread and regret

Only grows more while stuck on this parapet

I look up to the sky every night

Wondering why

God, answer me…I NEED YOU TO TRY

Help me out of this purgatory some call life

I cry while I try to understand this strife

I drive the knife into where my heart should be

Maybe in another lifetime I will see the real me

sad poetry
