Poison

They soak into my brain.

By Gabby MannuzzaPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

I lose every night

To poison-filled thoughts

They soak into my brain

And watch as it rots

The harbingers of death

They draw me to the edge

Willing me to let go

Fall backwards off the ledge

Silently draining me

Of any will to live

Too weak to even blink

They've taken me captive

My chest is hollow

And venom fills my head

I feel myself breathing

But I am long dead

My heart still pumps

But no longer lives

It wants to love

But there's none left to give

My mind still whirs

But rust is collecting

And you can see it now

In the mirror, reflecting

sad poetry
