Video still: mine.

I am pitiable

Told again & again

In fresh form

Medical models

Slap careless labels

To meet quotas

Why would I

Be able to

Submit to mundane

Requirements

Schedules, lists

Plodding one step

After another

Towards slow

Inevitable, inescapable

Death; checking

Minutes off to-do’s

Until expiry

A neat and tidy

Life, tied up

In a bow

Fuck that

This

Inattentive mind

Traverses galaxies

Wandering roads

Far and great

Too convoluted for

Average citizens

Enslaved by this

Lumbering, ticking

Machine

(No surprise there

Google Maps cannot

Quantum leap)

I exist outside

Of time

Don’t get me

Wrong; I see it

Eating away at

My face, feet

Grease steadily

Slowing its

Trickle to

Grumbling joints

And janky nerves; yet

Internal universes

Are not beholden

To such

Quantifiable decay

Even at the end

Dementia and Alzheimer’s

Cannot thieve

The spark; it

Simply jumps onto

Another timeline

Leaving the

Casing behind

Wondering grows

Louder & insistent

What if

ADHD is no disability

I am the culmination

Of all ancestors

Going farther, further

Beyond rationale

Into adventure

Dreaming, building

Exploring

We are nothing

BUT poiesis

Making meaning

Meaning making

My cohort of

Neurodivergence

Lives all lives

Simultaneously

We are walking

Libraries of

Human experience

This is why

We live

Outside of time

Carrying tidbits

Aesthetics, physics

Art, dance, drama

Pulling parts from

Every moment

Of existence

Free access; no

Locks or keys

We, who have

Lived longest; a

Paradox of

Protein & water

I sit at the feet

Of wise ones

Who freely offer

Wisdom, revealing

Truth; as time

Strips away

Last vestiges of

Ignorant, innocent

Youth; exchanging

One desire for another

I still lust for

Bodies

(A pesky

Side effect,

being mortal)

But I will drown

In the beauty

Of great minds

This is art
