I thought that I would never see
A fight regarding poetry.
Life can venture nothing worse,
Than fisticuffs o’er flowing verse.
*
If poems be the breath of life,
They ought ne’er cause such stressful strife.
Truth, words, and beauty, in one accord,
Caring nothing for the masses bored.
*
Structured, free, or rhyming pretty,
Poignant, wise, or merely witty,
Poetry should ne’er cause war.
Quoth the raven, Nevermore.
