Poetic Response To "Iron Sky" By Paolo Nutini
Truth In Resonance
This is a poem. A poetic response of the resonance I felt with this song.
This song feels like sliding naked into a satin dress and satin gloves
This song tastes like a rich brandy
It drives like a 1979 Cadillac De Ville
It smells like a hot-boxed cigar
It sways like Marilyn Monroe's hips
It preaches like it's forefathers are Charles Bukowski, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Melchizedek
The rainy day rhythm is trance inducing
It is flame blue
It looks like stonewashed jeans and a wife beater with cowboy boots
It is absinthe
It is verdigris
It is Anthony Bourdain
It is Joaquin Phoenix
It is the grit in the concrete cracks on Broadway
It's the warm upward rush of air from the subway beneath city streets
It's the writ of refugees
If I were to put a compass to it it would lead us all through the land of our own shadows where we confront who we really are
It is graffiti
It's the song of the vagabond that calls us collectively to recognize that's all we ever are
It's the nomad's traipse and the disillusioned prophet's veritas
And, all I can think about when I listen to it...is freedom
Freedom for the soul's total expression
Freedom from borders
Freedom into a collective poem that snatches all of humanity from a false sense of dystopia...a poem that releases us into true salvation
