Is it selfish to mourn one's own death, to pity that final breath, last whiff of earthly scents sublime?

Oh! last fateful kiss, to miss bless'd warmth of the embrace, the touch of cheek to cheek, face to face?

No more to hear lilting, lulling melody, grateful gift of Euterpe?

Bitter, sweet, salt and sour, the heart’s desire for milk and honey, heady savour to tantalise?

Funny, how life’s candle dims,

No more to see sun rise.

Close your eyes.

Do you mourn

Your own

Demise?
