poem for the sleepless night wanderer
is it everything you ever dreamed of?

i hear your feet padding
on the hardwood floors
i see the secret tears
you shed in the library
alone, wandering the
shelves of books, all yours-
it's the life you've
always dreamed of
your tears glisten; the
moon hanging round
the universe's neck
and she flaunts it--
her finest necklace
complete with a satin bow.
and her fingernails-
manicured with the crust
from under your eyes
as you awaken.
the sun beams brightly
at the promise of another
day. a golden curl falls
from your head and shines
in the sun.
