Please do not tell an ugly girl that she is pretty

By Trinity Noelle (circa 2016/14 years old)

They told me that I have

Body dysmorphia

That I’m not truly the terrifying

Alien being

That my brain has convinced me that

I am

But every glimpse

I catch in the mirror

Reflects a monster

hiding

in the skin I wear

Flesh that feels

Like it’s rotted

From the inside

Bones that are too sharp

And jagged

All wrong for the shape

I’m meant to take

I am grotesque

Please do not tell an ugly girl

That she is pretty.

She will never trust you again.
