Plastic People, Paper Bags
We’ve Been Sacked
These grocery stores keep changing things that make so little sense
Their ignorance and silliness has grown to be immense
The plastic bags they used to use are nowhere to be found
Yet items in our paper bags have plastic all around
Most the meats and milk jugs too, they’re packaged all in plastic
Since plastic fills our paper bags, why a move so drastic
It’s not that I won’t do my part in saving this old planet
In fact, the biggest issue here, we take our world for granted
There’s homelessness and hungry kids spread all throughout this land
Priorities are out of whack, please help me understand
To me it truly does appear we’ve bigger fish to fry
We likely can’t help everyone, but what if we just try
The funding that we’re putting forth to glorify the earth
Could not these funds be used elsewhere if people have more worth
So look inside those paper bags, the plastics that you bought
We’re eco-friendly hypocrites, just doing what we’re taught

Priorities are definitely out of whack! Loved your poem!
One little step at a time. Before the pandemic, we had turned from plastic and THEN it brought it all back, ugh. I guess there are reusable produce bags people could use if they wanted (and I have reusable baggies for items). I loved your poem!!
good
So well put! Bravo
