Piñata

A Poem

By Kale SinclairPublished 2 years ago • Updated 2 years ago • 1 min read

His life was a monstrously shaped piñata.

A dream filled idea fueled by a distant father.

Trapped within a body soldered to fit the stigmata,

the strings constricting his heart failed to unveil the notes of his sonata.

The vermin skin on his bones even melted into earthen terra cotta,

exposing the fleshy layers of suburban Hydrangea paniculata.

He was a one man army facing down love’s formidable armada.

His desire for honor burned hotter as the cannon fodder demons beneath

the gurgling water fell during the epic events of the curdling slaughter.

His hide was eventually pierced, and his guts spilled onto the salted sand,

it was then in that moment - when his blood seeped into the land -

his deep connection to the lonely universe began - creating a bond

he could finally understand.
