Pills of Love

Masks We Wear

You gave me pills instead of love,

a supposed comfort.

Dosed with medicine, not feelings.

Now I read books to feel something.

Years of hurt etched onto your soul.

Unfelt by you as you grew numb.

Secretly scheming with those nearby,

then denying it all, the mask complete.

I sought peace, yet fuelled the fight,

while you ignored every word I wrote or said.

Yours, so important, though empty of worth -

a hidden disguise on everyday Earth.

No room for fresh ideas, lost in your own head.

We all get like that, but what if someone changed the game?

You bought into a lie and then thrived on it.

Now, you're left with nothing but a dull existence.

You navigate this world blind

to your significant imperfections -

a nightmare complete.
