On Monday,

Eat Red to kill

tiny people in your head

take double for good measure,

then go back to sleep

the little voices will protest,

grow weak. cough blood?

that means they’re dead

evidence of murder

by associated meds

On Tuesday,

Eat an Orange

to fake the sunrise

from your sheets

lie in bed a little liar

soaking up the vitamin D

summer in a capsule

will set sleeping beauty free

wait the endless winter out

with your golden symphony

On Wednesday,

Flush the Yellow

enough!

you daisy-eyed freak!

you don’t need her dose

of optimism

to give you sweet release

tell that vapid,

oblong lemon

you’ll talk again next week

On Thursday,

Eat Green

if you’re feeling anxious,

jealous,

and/or mean

a pod of peas

they come in three

ingest all at once

to suffocate

the trifecta called envy

On Friday,

Blue

after you get home,

if you’re facing another

weekend alone

if you’d rather nod off

then wait

by the phone

Blue will keep you company,

Blue will watch you while you sleep

On Saturday,

There are chores to be done!

Indigo will make it fun

no one knows

what Indigo does

so take as many

as you like

you’ll feel great!

stay up all night!

on your speedy, tippy toes

On Sunday,

Violet to sleep

til noon

or three or six or eight

it’s off to Oz,

where poppies bloom

turn your alarm off—

it can wait

Just remember to refill your pills

so you can start again
