Even while security eludes me
and my own mind makes it hard
to feel secure in my skin,
I still know that I'm the winner
when it comes to certain stories in my life.
And even though every day is a new challenge,
I rise up
and keep pushing forward.
Even on the days
when I don't want to get up,
I don't want to move,
I don't want to face the world,
I still do it.
I may cry tears.
I may scream and throw things,
but I still manage to manifest
the energy and the power
to keep going forward,
no matter what life throws at me.
Some days I wish
it would all just go away
and darkness would take over.
But then, even for a moment,
a glimpse of light
will pull me back up
and out
and into the world.
All I can do is keep trying,
do my best each day,
whatever my abilities are
in each moment.
Collecting thoughts,
dreaming dreams,
and hoping that one day
things will get easier.
And even if they don't,
I'll keep going
until the time comes
that I won't.
