Persephone’s Mentor

A conversational poem by ED 1/5/22

By Emily DickersonPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

I can’t do it

In the frozen wasteland

It’s barren

I’m scared and

There’s nowhere for roots

To hold

I already put on my show

Now it’s time for you to

Let it go

Take flight

Spread your wings and fly

The only reason you can’t

Is cause you’re too scared to try

Without dirt for the ground

And all this ice around

I just can’t do it

There’s no way no how

I hate the ice and bitter cold

Can’t you help me cuz I really don’t know

Honey I already put on my show-

I’ve never tried it like this

This palace isn’t like his

You didn’t waltz in to Hades

And melt his cold dead heart

By standing around and wondering

That was different!

Just do your part

Start with poppies or lillies

Or sunflowers at the golden hour

Find it in your mind

Then etch it into the ice

I don’t want to mess it up

Or hurt anyone

You do it so well

So for you it’s just fun

Sweetie stop

I’m here for damage control

You are here to make

Beautiful things grow
