I pace the shallows

Waves lapping my shins

As the tide rises

My time grows thin

I see the end on the horizon

Yet, can not change my path

I walk a long-lined zig-zag

Drawn out slowly into

The salty bath

As the water starts to

Lick my thighs

I am elated, though

I start to cry

It is the anticipation

Of what I can not upend

The driving force

Churning the waves

Drawing the line I

Walk in this life

All the way out

To a rainbow reef

Growing by the ancient

Collapsed lighthouse

Unlit for ages I am drawn

Like a moth to its

Navigator’s flame

I walk the line steadily

Back and forth

Into the froth

As my hair floats

Above my head

I take a deep

Moist breath

The salty sea is perfect

For what ails me

Now I can finally

Get the rest I've been seeking

In a cushy bed

Of swaying seaweed
