The tales surround us

Burying us deep

Until we catch up to them again

Hoarding a life of repeats.

Washing dishes 'til dawn

Filling in the dots

Of the doors we've never opened

Merely tidying up the rot.

*

We go through the patterns

Day in and day out

Hoping the cycle soon breaks

Before the leaks sprout.

We waltz with our ghosts

Afraid to toe the line

Announcing our habits

Smearing the spilled wine.

*

The tales surround us

Burying us alive

We turned out like them, again

Maybe one day you'll survive.
