Healing through mutual recognition

A circle drawn on a paper

a container created on a sheet of plant fiber

is a boundary of presence.

The circle is there, no doubt,

but how much can one thin line of ink do to neglect

the closely knit strands underneath?

I can touch skin

a handshake, a kiss

and though the ink comes close to mixing

it never will.

Our circles will never cross

and our paper will never tear.

Our paper will never tear,

no, the plain on which we stand is rigid

our eyes perceive this

our fingers caress this

But

our hearts

they do not know this.

Erythrocytes carry their respective gasses to and fro

between cells

between bodies

No, ink can’t divide us from what surrounds us.

The unreachable fantasy

is simultaneously a nightmare all too real.

No we are not circles

but illusory pieces of a world shared

the meeting of which shows

nothing can be missing from whole pieces.
