Pasts and Presents.
Reflections.and Ruminations at the Beginning of a New Year.
The past always holds it's own allure,
It can be a place of sweet memories, of comfort and warmth,
Yet it's important not to romanticize what once was and remember what it now is,
The past is a graveyard, filled with people and experiences,
Times that are no longer here – Yet not quite gone,
Their echoes tapping on the looking glass as the world marches on.
It whispers to us reminders of our own mortality,
The impermanence of all things,
But to coming days it has no parity,
For it is in the present that life truly sings.
It is in these everyday moments, right here and now,
That we find ourselves with the opportunity to make a vow,
To create, to explore, to love and to live true and with abandon,
The past may be death, but it brought us here for us to make the most of and stand on.
The present is where we grow,
Nourish it, cultivate it, let life flourish and flow,
We can create a future that's bright and true,
Worthy of those that came before, those who knew, worthy of me and worthy of you.
The past may be death but stagnations akin,
So let us fight in the present and never let the fires die within,
Let us embrace the value of life and the beauty of each day,
On the winding path of life let us not stray,
The present is the gift of now,
One to savour and cling to right up to the final bow.
