Past The Point

A poem

There's a point in the world that everyone hits

And it's someone in time, but a place everyone forgets

An unfortunate circumstance of the world we are in

And something that we should be taught when we first begin

It comes in the night, sometimes, when we've crossed over the line

Waiting for someone to come and tell us it'll be fine

But it can sometimes come during the light

To allow us to see, we're walking into a fight

When the bell rings, and we've hit that point of not turning back

It's fate that we have to worry about, fate and its insidious attack

But things get complicated, so give the devil his due

Not every attack is something that's meant for you

Some will face you, and look you right in your old and weary eye

Others will continue to ravage you sneakily, until you lie down and die

But that's life, or so the songbirds say

And fair was never the rule it would use to play

And while the world could stop and intervene

The truest battles are those which go seldomly seen

Walking into that valley alone and cold

You're not meant to ever see getting old

For the devil, it came

And nothing was ever the same

Now the end is closer than the start

Be still, your nearly worn-out heart
