Walking back and forth
across the three-road zebra crossing;
red tees and blue jeans blend
with black jackets and yellow dresses.
Unplanned and fleeting,
whether rushing or taking it slow.
From stores, jobs, and journeys,
by bike and on foot.
Grabbing flyers from strangers,
returning lost items to their owners.
Repairing a bicycle with someone's help ,
stopping accidentally at a road diner.
Waiting for the green light, lost in thought, takes forever.
A man helps a child tie their shoes; they're visiting the dwarfs.
Later, I'm in a theatre of discarded masks, telling stories.
The spotlight hits them, and they look perfect - thank goodness.
