Parents can
Be a source of
Inspiration
Creativity
Love
And they are the ones who
Will protect you against all odds
But sometimes they
Fall and as a
Child it’s hard to see them
Struggle
For
Such a long time
And they may act out in
Ways that cause you
Unimaginable pain
Not now
But
Later in life when
You realize what had happened to you
And sometimes you
Sever your ties from them
Cut the metaphorical umbilical cord that ties most parents to
Their children
Or
You cut it and later realize they
May have changed
From those demons in your head
To just
People
That’s all they are
People trying their hardest
To raise
A kid
In the middle of an unforgiving
World
That’s all they are
People
So don’t put them on a pedestal, don’t demonize them
That’s all they are
People

It Only Took One Minute.......
It only took a minute. I was sitting at the computer in my office when the phone rang. I picked up the receiver and then laid it down my desk as I went to find the student who the call was for. Within seconds I was back at my desk, ready to resume typing, when I heard the student yelling obscenities at me for listening in to his call through the handset that was still lying on the desk. Sick and tired of the lies he was spewing, I was up running down the hall, ready to kill him. By the time I reached him, I had calmed enough not to hurt him, but as I turned back towards my room, I knew that I couldn’t go on like this any longer. The decision was clear. I had to leave.

Gossamer
"Murray! Wake up!" He loved that period between waking and dreaming. To him, it was like entering another dimension; more of a dreamscape than dreaming itself. There was an otherness to it that he wanted to grasp and yet deeply respected the fact that it could never be his totally. This is what gossamer was; flighty and light, a wisp of smokiness, an idea suggested but not fully revealed, a slit in cloth, a copse in the wood.
