Eve, our mother of mothers, bit the apple as she was told

a loyal servant, she wanted only to have her teeth marks be shown

in the ripe, red skin.

God watched on, knowing what was to come,

predicting each and every human folly that exists

under our plump, newborn skin.

But that action, that juicy bite Eve swallowed, was not the betrayal

Man's world would have you believe.

-

God watched, counting all his predictable seconds, and allowed in us

knowledge, morals, and free will.

We would no longer be his perfect puppets, doomed to an eternity

of lackluster mimicry.

We human would thrive, create, invent, and write,

to our individual hearts' content.

And however it was we chose to live,

inside our diverse, tattooed, or pierced skin,

was what he foresaw all along.

-

God did not mourn the fall of Eden,

and neither should we.

He is all-knowing and predicted our wild ways.

He winked at the serpent for delivering his message,

and watched with delight,

as Eve's teeth ripped open the skin and took the first bite toward freedom.
