A poem

Through each page she turns,

A new life is given.

A peddler’s daughter, longing for adventure

Weaving white flowers in her hair.

Royalty seeking true love’s kiss

To free her from her tower

A hero saving the realm,

Riding her horse against rough winds

A villain bent on destruction,

Vengeance for being spurned by all

Every page

Brings new joys and woes.

With each life lived,

Death draws closer

With each chapter ended

The girl is not sad.

A new life is always given.

Leather-bound book in hand

She turns another page

Crinkled and yellowed from time

And reads once upon a time.
