Paint it Purple
Pink, Black, Red, White
I wrote this today from my dreams, life, and tidbits of the news. I was thinking about this topic for hours. Finally, I wrote the song, created a video to add visuals.

Paint it Purple
Pink, Black, Red, & White
Verse 1:
When I walk in the room
To be doomed
As their eyes pierce through me like knives,
Cutting me down before I rise.
Whispers circle, sharpened tongues,
Their eyes burn, ruthless and cruel,
Scorching every piece of me like ambered fuel.
Whispers circle, sharpened tongues,
Every color turns black when I am old or young.
Pre-Chorus:
I keep my armor close, my heartbeat tight,
Always bracing for another fight.
But what if I am more than just their doubt?
What if I paint it purple and drown them out?
Chorus:
I am not your faded story,
I am bold, I am free.
I wear my scars like painted glory,
And no one takes that from me.
Verse 2:
Every word they threw, I caught,
Built a wall, a fortress wrought.
But walls keep out the light, I see,
It is time to turn them into poetry.
Bridge:
I swallowed fire, I bit my tongue,
Buried every scream, left every song unsung.
But silence isn’t shelter, it’s a cage,
And I won’t fade away without a good name.
I will sing although they tried to drown out the real me,
I will lift my soul high where their words won’t bound me..
Final Chorus:
I am not your faded story,
I am bold, I am free.
I wear my scars like painted glory,
And no one takes that from me.
