Of all the things that can make us feel,
Pain is the one that seems most real.
It grips us tight, won't let us go,
And leaves us feeling low.
In agony's dark, twisted frame
Lies a strange and an unsettling feeling , though cruel and cold as stone Can also be a catalyst to atone
It comes in many different forms,
From broken bones to broken hearts,
And though we try to push it away,
It lingers with us every day.
It cuts like a knife, leaving scars that would never go away,a chance for healing but whispers of despair, yet screams of hope a contradictory language, hard to cope
A constant ache or sudden stabbing,
But no matter how it makes us feel,
Pain is always there, so very real.
Like a phoenix rising from the ashes gray Pain can transform, come what may It breaks and it builds, it destroys and it makes A paradox of hurt and healing that it undertakes
And yet, in spite of all its might,
Pain can also teach us to fight.
To push through when we want to give in,
And find the strength to start again.
In a twisted dance of immense pain and despair,Pain can also help us to fly.
To rise above and reach new heights,
And find the courage to shine our light.
